“How can we know the way?”
Jesus had spoken to His disciples about going to the Father. Thomas asked how they could know the way. Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6, NKJV).
He did not say, “I know the way,” or simply, “I show the way.” He said, “I AM THE WAY.”
The Way
Sin separates us from God. We cannot bridge that separation by our own goodness or religious effort. God has provided the way through His Son.
First Peter 3:18 tells us that Christ suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, to bring us to God. He took the sinner’s place. His death and resurrection are the foundation of our approach to the Father.
The Truth
Jesus Christ perfectly reveals God. John 1:14 speaks of the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us, full of grace and truth. In the Son we see God’s holiness, love, and faithfulness.
He speaks with divine authority. We can trust what He says about our need, His saving work, and the life He gives.
The Life
“In Him was life” (John 1:4, NKJV). Life with God is found in His Son. “He who has the Son has life” (1 John 5:12, NKJV).
He gives eternal life to those who trust Him. This life is received from Him, rather than achieved through our own efforts.
Come to the Father through Him
The way to God is not Christianity as a religious system, a building, or a denomination. It is Christ Himself. He came from heaven, lived without sin, died for our sins, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:3–4).
His words are personal and clear: “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” You can trust the One who gave Himself for you.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31, NKJV).
